me: man, i really hope the ranch house has toilet paper.
rhody: you gonna blow it up?
me: heck yeah i am.

maybe that conversation is a little gross to you, but as a guy, and with it happening at 1:15 in the morning, i thought it was funny. luckily for me, the ranch house did have toilet paper.

but we didn’t have soap.

we haven’t had soap in the bathroom all summer long.

i really don’t know why this is. i actually had never even thought about it until just now. that’s really weird.

anytime that i’ve used the bathroom over here this summer, i’ve had to come back into my room and get hand sanitizer and use that because we had no soap in the bathroom.

the funny thing is, not having soap in the bathroom got me thinking about jesus.

this week in our small groups, i’ve been talking to the students about showing jesus to the people in their lives. for anyone who has been around me in the past few months, you know that the thing i’m trying to do the most is being jesus to the people in my life, to show them a small glimpse into him. we’ve talked about what that means and little simple ways to show jesus to the people around you.

so what does this have to do with not having soap?

well, every time that i didn’t have soap after using the bathroom, i had to look somewhere else for an alternative way to clean my hands. i had to find something else other than soap in the bathroom to clean the germs off of my hands.

when we don’t show jesus to the people around us, they have to go find something else to clean themselves up.

we’re all looking to clean something up in our lives and if we can’t find the soap for it the first place we look, we go searching for it. so instead of making our friends go out and search for soap, it’s time we start taking the soap to them, even if it’s just one hand wash at a time.

say your prayers and take your vitamins.

have a nice day.
