FUEL Recap 4/6/11
Series: Guardrails
Attendance: 172
Mixer/Game: We didn’t have a game or mixer this week. Instead, in the middle of our worship set, we gave our students space to just sit and talk to God. Through all of the busyness that comes at the end of the semester a lot of our kids have just gotten overwhelmed and not spent much time with him. We wanted to give them a chance to do that.
Extra fun things: We did video announcements again. They included a Good Morning FUEL episode. Good Morning FUEL is where we go to a student’s house and wake them up really really early in the morning and film it. It also had pictures from AWAKE this week. All of those videos are at the bottom of this post.
Worship Set: Your Name High (Hillsong), Where The Spirit Of The Lord Is (Chris Tomlin), Sound of Your Voice (Andrew and Hannah), With Everything (Hillsong)
Bumper Video: Guardrails Intro
Topic: Guardrails Intro
Scripture: Ephesians 5:15-19
Thoughts: We introduced one of my favorite worship songs last night (With Everything by Hillsong). I was definitely excited for it. It’s one of the most powerful songs I’ve ever heard and, while it was still new to them, a lot of our students were able to get into it and just forget about people around them and shout with everything they had. That was really cool to see.
Other than that, my favorite part of the night was the time I got to hang out with students. The junior guys (which Chris leads) had a bonfire behind our building after FUEL was over so I didn’t have to stick around and turn everything off or lock everything up or wait on parents to get there. I was able to hang out with students for a while and then I got out of there decently early. It’s always a fun time when I can just be around students and not have to worry about the programming or other parts of the event. I’m so freaking task oriented that if I know I have to get x, y, and z done I’ll start doing that while kids are there because it has to get done. Last night I didn’t have to and it was great.
