In the fall of 2014 I was walking the dog. As I walked up the back part of my neighborhood that night at sunset, a thought popped in my head:
What would it look like it to be a designer for the global church instead of just one local church?
That thought is what ultimately was the inspiration to become a full-time freelancer. Since starting my business in January 2015, I’ve been able to work with nearly 60 churches and ministries in four different countries in a little over three years. It’s been a crazy ride and I honestly can’t believe what it’s turned into.
This May I have the opportunity to expand that to another country and numerous other churches. The Center For Church Communications puts on an annual mission trip called Creative Missions. Each year 30 or so designers, developers, videographers, and other creatives take a week and serve the churches in a specific area helping them with all the facets of church communications in order to reach their community.
I’ve been invited to be a part of that trip this year. We will be spending a week in May in Calgary, Alberta (yep, that’s Canada) serving churches all around one of the fastest growing cities in North America. They have over 1.5 million residents and less than 80,000 (5.2%) claim to know Jesus. We will be helping churches of all shapes and sizes, including an Arabic-speaking church as well as Hispanic and Filipino church plants.
Here’s where you come in (and where this post gets slightly awkward):
The trip is going to cost me about $1700 between airfare, lodging, and meals.
I’m asking if you’d help me finance the trip so I can continue serving churches at my current rates while providing the services at Creative Missions for free. As many of you already know, ministry in general is tough and church planting is even harder. It’s also not cheap. Your gift – no matter how big or little – will be multiplied exponentially as I partner with a couple dozen others doing the exact same thing. That last sentence feels completely prosperity gospel-ish and makes me super uncomfortable to type but this trip is something I believe in that much.

Say your prayers and take your vitamins.
Have a nice day.
